6 Reasons Why We Love Delhiites, And Delhi Too

Delhi is much more than a metropolitan; it’s a way of life. It’s the perfect blend of the highs and the lows, rich history and avant-garde amenities, the fusion of the old and the new. Delhi is the heart of the country enticing everyone who sets foot in the city.

Enthralling the world with its medieval charm and giving a glimpse of the multiple, bygone empires, you can’t help falling in love with this alluring city.

For everyone who has been through Delhi has had a heartfelt connection with it. It’s not just the capital of India; it’s a culture, a vibe, a melange of the extremes, and there are countless reasons why we would rather be from Delhi than anywhere else.

But, for all those who’ve been deprived of the city’s flamboyance, here are a couple of reasons why you should come around and be a part of it:

1. Delhiites have their own language: True, the dialects in India change every 100 kilometers, but that’s not what we’re talking about. Delhiites have a unique mix of 30% Hindi, 30% English and the rest comprising of indecipherable gibberish and innovative obscenities.

2. Delhi is not overcrowded, it’s vivacious: Sure, we love to crib about our overcrowded capital, but that’s no excuse to call your city better. Despite the city’s mayhem, its gusto cannot be denied.

3. Easy travelling: Delhi Metro is a savior; no matter how rich or how poor you are. It’s a respite to the poor from the harsh summer and to the rich from the maddening traffic. The second best in the world, our Metro to Delhi is what blood is to veins. Yes, we’re proud of it.

4. A paradise for shoppers: Delhi, perhaps, is the only city in India that lets you buy Sabyasachi at dirt cheap prices. There’s Sarojini Market and Janpath. From the best fleas markets in the country to lavish, sophisticated malls, Delhi has got it all.

5. Delhiites slay at bargaining: Everybody knows it. Don’t even try to deny. You name it and we’ll persuade them; shopkeepers, street vendors and auto drivers; precisely everyone under the sun. We never back down without haggling. Most of the time, we win.

6. Hands down the best street food in the country: Owing to the diversity in the city, Delhi has on offer something from each corner of the country and from rest of the world too. From the narrow lanes of old Delhi offering the delectable Mughlai cuisine and paranthas to the super pocket-friendly street eateries and roadside dhabas offering food round the clock, there’s no dearth of food in Delhi.
